A Southern California native, Dru Lux was influenced at an early age by both Surf and Skate Culture, the Hot Rod and Custom scene, as well as the ever present entertainment industry, which lead into to an involvement in all three. He began painting in high school auto body class, restoring several classic cars. The satisfaction of finishing these complicated projects as well as working with his hands was more than enough to solidify his role as an eternal student of the industrial arts.

An avid skateboarder, Dru turned his skills and passion toward a worn out longboard, painting it the same way he would a hot rod or motorcycle. This began a personal competition to create more skateboards, each one better than the one that had preceded it.  Thousands of hours of designing and building, hundreds of miles test riding, all with the intent of making stronger, more stable, strikingly styled skateboards in ways that had not been done before. Boards so nice that they need cases; cases so nice that they need covers. Everything taken further than it had been before.

“My goal is to bring skateboards into the the high end realm. High levels of function, design and finish. Almost every object in life that we come across has a luxury version and I feel that there is an opportunity to do that with skateboards.”

With an eye for looking at mundane items and seeing them as potential objects of beauty, he has also used his skills in woodworking, fiberglass, welding, casting, painting, upholstery, embroidery, as well as graphic and CAD design to create lighting, furniture, signage, and the interior design of his studio.

Dru received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sound and Set Design from California State University, Fullerton in 2007, and has worked professionally as a live sound and video engineer for concerts, theater, and corporate events to finance his obsession with creating the most elaborate skateboards in existence.
